Shiny and New

Today is the first day back... a week of training and setting up our rooms and visions of shiny and new school supplies dancing in our heads. My room smells like fresh floor wax, there is no offending odor eminating from the bathroom, the items in my room are clean and free of stray pencil marks, the floor has not one piece of trash, I am not concerned with 5 year old mucus covering much of the furniture... ah, bliss.

Holy cow! Your summer vacation is SHORT! Is yours a year-round school?

I am right behind you... although today I seem to be procrastinating getting ready! Happy New School Year!

We are what they call a modified calendar. Same number of instruction days (180) as normal schools but we have three breaks, or INtersessions, where it's optional for the kids to attend and the teachers to teach. Most kids attend and most teachers teach - it's fun and it's nice extra money.

Our county axed this calendar due to budget cuts... so this is the last year :(
