Money/Store Books

Here is a list of books that were recommended to me by our fabulous librarian. They all focus on goods and services, having money, or simply buying stuff. Exactly what I needed to get the kids' brains around our store!
  • Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday by Judith Viorst
  • Something Good by Robert Munsch
  • Money, Money, Honey Bunny! by Marilyn Sadler
  • Bunny Money by Rosemary Wells
  • Goat and Donkey in Strawberry Sunglasses by Simon Puttock and Russell Julian.
Thanks Library Lady!

I also like "A Chair for My Mother" for this topic - it talks about saving up for a big purchase, and then going to lots of places to find the "perfect" item. "Benny's Pennie's" is cute, too - hen spends his pennies, though not in regular stores.

I read these as well as "Alexander who used to be Rich Last Sunday" during our required "financial literacy" unit.

Don't forget "Benny's Pennies" by Pat Brisson. It works well with this age group.
